As Pakistan and India prepared to face off in a high-stakes Asia Cup clash, members of the Sikh community gathered at Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib on Sunday to offer special prayers for Pakistan’s victory.
Community members, including women, said the match carried deep importance for the nation and hoped to see the green flag raised high once again.
Sardar Balwant Singh, speaking at the gurdwara, said the game could serve as a source of love and unity between the two countries. “If Pakistan wins, millions of hearts will rejoice,” he said, adding that people on both sides should send a message of peace, not hate.
“We pray for Pakistan’s success and hope this victory brings the two nations closer,” Singh said, noting that better relations would benefit not only the region but the world.
Another devotee, Mandeep Kaur, said the community was filled with excitement. “We pray the green team wins so we can all celebrate together,” she said.
