UAE Outclass Oman with 42-Run Victory in Asia Cup 2025 Clash

The United Arab Emirates kept their Asia Cup 2025 campaign alive with a convincing 42-run win over Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Monday. The victory came as a much-needed boost for UAE after a rocky start to the tournament, while Oman now face the possibility of early elimination.

After losing the toss, UAE were put in to bat first. Their top order rose to the challenge, led by captain Muhammad Waseem, who hammered a fluent 69, setting the tone for the innings. His aggressive stroke play was complemented by Alishan Sharafu, who contributed a steady 51. Together, they built a strong foundation that pushed UAE to a competitive 172 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Oman’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with only Kaleemullah showing flashes of control, picking up two wickets. Despite occasional breakthroughs, their attack failed to apply consistent pressure, allowing UAE to dictate terms.

Chasing 173, Oman’s reply unraveled quickly. Their top order collapsed under disciplined bowling from UAE, particularly Junaid Siddique, who delivered a match-winning spell of 4 for 23. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals, and despite a brief resistance from Zeeshan Maqsood, Oman were bundled out for 130 in 18.4 overs.

Speaking after the match, UAE skipper Muhammad Waseem credited his side’s resilience. “We knew this was a must-win game. Everyone stepped up today, and the bowlers really backed up the batting effort,” he said.

For Oman, the defeat raises serious questions about their campaign. Two consecutive losses have left them in a precarious position, with qualification hopes now hanging by a thread.

This win gives UAE a lifeline in Group A, keeping their chances of advancing alive. Their balanced performance — a solid batting display followed by sharp bowling — will provide much-needed confidence ahead of tougher fixtures.
