LAHORE: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a report detailing the damage caused by flooding in the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers

Lahore, September 23, 2025 — The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released its latest report on the devastating floods, confirming that 27 districts have been severely affected by overflowing rivers and heavy monsoon rains, impacting more than 4.7 million people across the province

Casualties: At least 134 deaths and 13 injuries have been reported.

Affected population: Around 4.755 million people and over 4,700 villages have been hit by the floods.

Evacuations & relief: Over 2.6 million people have been evacuated to safer places, while 319 relief camps, 407 medical camps, and 356 veterinary camps have been set up.

Government action: A large-scale survey will begin this week to assess damage, with authorities promising transparent and swift compensation.

The floods caused by the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers have inundated thousands of villages, washing away homes, crops, and livestock. Infrastructure including roads, embankments, and irrigation systems has been badly damaged, leaving many communities isolated.

Authorities confirm that 2.62 million people were shifted from danger zones to safer areas. Relief camps are providing food, clean water, shelter, and medical assistance, while veterinary teams are caring for thousands of livestock. Mobile clinics and sanitation services are also operating in the worst-hit regions.

Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed announced that a comprehensive survey of losses will start on September 24 to document household, agricultural, and infrastructure damages. He assured that compensation will be distributed in a fair and transparent manner to all victims.

Despite relief efforts, food, clean drinking water, and medicine remain in short supply in many affected areas. Families returning home are facing destroyed houses and fields, while farmers report heavy losses to standing crops and livestock.

Officials emphasize that, alongside immediate compensation, the government is focusing on long-term disaster management. Plans include strengthening drainage systems, reinforcing embankments, and improving early warning systems to prevent future large-scale damage.
