Iran Open to ‘Fair’ US Nuclear Deal, Sets Key Conditions

IRAN has expressed readiness to consider a “fair and balanced” nuclear proposal from the United States but said it has not yet received any official offer for negotiations.

Speaking to state television on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Tehran would welcome talks if Washington presents a reasonable plan. “If we receive a fair and balanced proposal from the Americans, we will certainly look into it,” he said.

However, Araqchi made it clear that Iran would not surrender its “right to enrich uranium.” He emphasized that Iran could take “confidence building steps” to prove the peaceful nature of its nuclear programme but only if the U.S. also shows goodwill by easing certain sanctions.

He further revealed that indirect communications between Tehran and Washington were ongoing through mediators.

The U.S., along with its European allies and Isr@-ael, continues to accuse Iran of secretly advancing nuclear weapons capabilities an allegation Tehran strongly denies, insisting its nuclear efforts are purely for peaceful energy purposes.

Before the 12 day Ir@an-Isra@el conflict in June in which Washington also targeted Iranian nuclear facilities both nations had already held five rounds of nuclear talks that ended without progress due to disagreements over uranium enrichment on Iranian soil.
