Strong tremors were felt across Islamabad and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday after a magnitude 5.6 earthquake jolted parts of northern Pakistan.
According to the Seismological Center, the quake struck at a depth of around 120 kilometers, with its epicenter located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region — an area known for frequent seismic activity.
Tremors were reported in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat, Lower Dir, and Chitral, causing panic among residents. People rushed out of their homes and buildings, reciting prayers as the ground shook for several seconds.
Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and emergency response teams have been put on alert in the affected areas.
