LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has decided to strictly enforce the Loudspeaker Act across the province and implement a zero-tolerance policy against hate and incitement on social media.

The decision was taken during the third consecutive high-level meeting on law and order, chaired by the Chief Minister in Lahore.

According to the Punjab government, a special cell has been set up within the Police Helpline 15 to monitor activities of extremist groups and unregistered foreign residents.

The meeting also resolved that no form of criminal dominance, land mafia, or “dala” culture will be tolerated in the province. District peace committees are being restructured and made more effective to maintain harmony at the local level.

Officials clarified that the ongoing combing operations are targeted only at specific extremist elements. All district administrations have been directed to provide daily updates on the presence and activities of illegal foreign residents, including details on deportations and those brought into the tax net.

The meeting also urged citizens not to rent out shops or houses to illegal foreign nationals, warning that strict action will be taken under tenancy and passport laws against violators.

A firm directive was issued to take legal action under cybercrime and anti-terror laws against individuals spreading hate, disinformation, or calls for violence through social media.

The government reiterated its stance that maintaining public peace and civic discipline remains its top priority and that no one will be allowed to exploit religion or social media to spread chaos.
