KARACHI: A tragic incident unfolded near Sachal Mor on the Superhighway when armed robbers opened fire during an attempted robbery, killing a 12-year-old boy and injuring his uncle.
According to police, the incident occurred near the Buraq Petrol Pump where the victims — identified as 12-year-old Hasnain, son of Muhammad Qasim, and his uncle 55-year-old Ali Asghar, son of Haji Bakhsh — were sitting roadside when two armed motorcyclists approached them with the intent to rob.
During the confrontation, Ali Asghar reportedly pulled out his weapon, prompting the suspects to open fire. The exchange of gunfire left the uncle and nephew injured, while the assailants also sustained injuries but managed to flee the scene.
Rescue teams shifted both victims to Dow Hospital, where the young boy succumbed to his injuries. The victims were residents of Dadu, Sindh.
SSP East Dr. Farrukh Raza said initial investigations suggest the shooting occurred during a robbery attempt. He confirmed that raids are underway to arrest the fleeing suspects.
