Maldives Bans Smoking for Individuals Born After 2006

The Maldives has implemented a new law this month that legally prohibits individuals born on or after January 1, 2007, from using, purchasing, or selling tobacco products in the country.

‎According to reports, under the new law, individuals born on or after January 1, 2007, will never be legally allowed access to tobacco products. The ban applies not only to citizens of the Maldives but also to visitors and tourists.

‎Furthermore, retailers are required to verify the buyer’s age or date of birth, failing which they will face penalties.

‎In addition, the country has already imposed strict restrictions on e-cigarettes and vaping devices.
