MEXICO CITY: American golfer Ben Griffin claimed his third PGA Tour title of 2025 by winning the World Wide Technology Championship on Sunday with a record-breaking performance in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The 29-year-old star fired a stunning nine-under-par 63 in the final round to finish at a tournament record 29-under 259 after 72 holes. He made 10 birdies and just one bogey to seal the victory.
“I got off to a great start making birdies early,” Griffin said. “This time I pushed myself harder to keep the momentum going, and my putting really helped me on the back nine.”
Finland’s Sami Valimaki shot 64 to share second place with American Chad Ramey at 261, while South Africa’s Garrick Higgo and Trevor Cone finished one stroke behind.
With this win, Griffin joined world number one Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy as the only players to claim three PGA Tour titles this year.
He also became just the seventh player since 1983 to earn his first three PGA Tour victories in the same season, the last being Scheffler in 2022.
Griffin, a member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team, had earlier won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April (with Andrew Novak) and the Charles Schwab Challenge in May.
He also finished runner-up at the Memorial Tournament in June and the Procore Championship in September.
Starting the final round two shots behind Garrick Higgo, Griffin made three birdies in the first four holes, dropped a shot on the fifth, and then caught fire — making five straight birdies from holes 8 to 12.
A birdie on the 16th hole pushed him to 28-under, two shots ahead of Valimaki. Both players birdied the par-five 18th, sealing Griffin’s two-stroke victory and breaking the course record by two shots.
Final Score:
Ben Griffin — 259 (-29)
Sami Valimaki & Chad Ramey — 261 (-27)
Garrick Higgo & Trevor Cone — 262 (-26)
