KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi has agreed to extend its Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise agreement, while other franchises have been given until Tuesday to make their final decision. Meanwhile, the situation surrounding Multan Sultans remains unresolved.

According to details, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently conducted a complete valuation of the PSL and its franchises. Based on this assessment, new franchise fees were set. Initially, the teams were required to accept the revised terms by November 20, but the deadline was later extended to November 25.

Sources indicate that franchise owners have been engaged in discussions over the past several days. Peshawar Zalmi is the first franchise to accept the new agreement, while others are expected to follow soon.

However, the Multan Sultans’ franchise was not sent any official documentation from the PCB regarding the updated agreement. Following repeated criticism of the league and its officials, team owner Ali Tareen was issued a notice—one he dramatically tore up in a sarcastic video, further complicating matters.

As of now, Multan Sultans’ position remains uncertain. If no progress is made by Tuesday, the PCB may initiate a new bidding process, and Ali Tareen would be barred from participating due to disciplinary issues. In recent statements, Tareen has hinted that he may pursue legal action.

New PSL Teams in the Pipeline

Preparations are also underway for the sale of the seventh and eighth PSL teams. An official advertisement was issued a few days ago, and several companies have expressed interest.

The PCB has shortlisted six cities, and successful bidders will be allowed to choose the team name from among them.
Shortlisted cities include:
Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit.

Auction Date Announced for New Franchises

The Pakistan Super League has confirmed that the auction for the two new HBL PSL franchises will take place on January 6, 2026.

This marks a major milestone in the league’s expansion plans, aimed at further strengthening PSL’s commercial value, sporting structure, and fan engagement.

Recognised globally as one of the premier T20 leagues, the PSL continues to grow in stature. The PCB and PSL management look forward to welcoming new investors and enhancing the league’s impact on Pakistan cricket.
