Apple’s First Foldable iPhone May Launch With a Crease-Free Display in 2026

Apple’s first foldable iPhone may feature a completely crease-free display, according to reports from Economic Daily News citing Apple’s supply chain sources. The development suggests Apple could overcome a major limitation that has held back wider adoption of foldable smartphones.

The device, rumored to be called the iPhone Fold, has reportedly moved into the engineering verification and pre-mass-production stage, with Foxconn preparing a dedicated production line for the model. Analysts say Apple’s strategy once again focuses on refining technology rather than being first to market, similar to its approach with the iPod and iPhone.

To eliminate creasing, Apple is said to be using a metal plate beneath the display to manage bending stress, along with laser-drilled microstructures to maintain the screen’s elasticity. Liquidmetal hinges are also expected to improve durability, offering resistance stronger than titanium.

Rumored features include a horizontal tablet-style folding design, side-mounted Touch ID, and a power-efficient C2 modem. If development continues smoothly, the foldable iPhone is expected to launch in September 2026.
