KARACHI — A tortured and bound body of an unidentified woman was discovered late Tuesday night from a ground near Clifton Block 2, China Town. According to police, the victim’s face had been severely disfigured in an apparent attempt to conceal her identity.
Police and rescue teams shifted the body to Jinnah Hospital after completing the initial examination at the scene. SHO Rashid Ali said the woman, aged between 40 and 45, appeared to have been abducted from an unknown location, killed, and later dumped at the spot with her hands and feet tied.
A handbag found near the body contained a mask and a pair of socks, but nothing that could help establish her identity. One of the woman’s shoes was recovered from the ground, while the other was still on her foot. Police believe the suspects either used acid or brutally crushed her face to prevent identification. Her fingerprints were also partially damaged, complicating biometric verification.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to trace the culprits. Hospital officials confirmed that the post-mortem examination has been completed and relevant samples preserved.
The woman was later identified as 49-year-old Shahnaz, a widow and diabetic patient, after her son Adil Masih recognized her clothing. She had gone missing on Saturday night after leaving her residence in Baldia Town around 8 PM. Her children had registered a missing-person report at Madina Colony Police Station before the discovery.
According to her son, the family had no known enmity. Shahnaz had been living in a rented house and was the mother of three sons and two daughters.
Police have registered FIR No. 926/2025 under Section 302 against unknown suspects on behalf of the state. The case has been handed over to Clifton Division Investigation Unit. Officials said the body will be handed over to the family after completing legal formalities.
