To prevent the rise of heart and other related diseases, the Punjab Food Authority has decided to take several significant steps.
According to details, the Punjab Food Authority has sought recommendations from experts regarding the selection of balanced and appropriate food. It has also begun considering imposing a partial ban on hydrogenated oil.
It will be mandatory to mention nutritional ingredients on the labels of ghee, oil, and other food items. All food products will also be required to undergo testing from an approved laboratory.
Suggestions have been made to thoroughly check all milk products as well. A proposal to ban the advertisement of junk food and sugar based items for children is also under consideration.
There is also a recommendation to restrict the advertisement of such items on social media and other platforms. The Educational Institute Food Standards Regulations 2017 will be enforced, and proposals have been made to include nutrition as a compulsory subject in children’s curriculum.
