Pakistan organized its first-ever international Quran recitation competition, with participants from 37 countries attending the event in Islamabad. A Malaysian Qari secured the top position, receiving widespread appreciation. The ceremony at the Convention Centre opened with a recitation by Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf welcomed the international Qaris, stating that participants from dozens of countries traveling to Pakistan reflects global respect for the nation. He praised Pakistan’s efforts to promote religious harmony and strengthen ties within the Muslim Ummah.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said the competition highlights Pakistan’s commitment to unity and spiritual values. He emphasized that Pakistan is the only country founded in the name of the Kalima, urging youth to deepen their connection with the Holy Quran. He added that the Quran teaches peace, justice, and mercy, and should guide national governance.

Malaysia’s Qari Aiman Rizwan won first place, Iran’s Qari Adnan took second, and Pakistan’s Qari Abdul Rasheed secured third. Contestants from Afghanistan, Indonesia, and Morocco followed in the next positions. Prizes worth millions of rupees were distributed among the winners by Ishaq Dar and Sardar Yousaf.
