WAPDA’s Samiullah Khan and Faiqa Riaz have been crowned the fastest male and female athletes of Pakistan at the National Games.
American athlete Noreen Hussain, representing Pakistan Army, secured the gold medal in the women’s pole vault event.
The highlight of the National Games — the athletics competitions — took center stage on Monday with the highly anticipated 100m races.
In the men’s 100m sprint, WAPDA’s Samiullah Khan delivered an exceptional performance, completing the distance in 10.30 seconds to claim the title of Pakistan’s fastest male athlete. Army’s Usman won silver, while Rashid Riaz secured bronze.
In the women’s 100m, WAPDA’s Olympian Faiqa Riaz dominated the race, finishing in 11.7 seconds to earn the title of Pakistan’s fastest female athlete. HEC’s Khawla Umar claimed silver, and Army’s Tamim Khan took bronze.
At the Pakistan Navy Sports Complex, the javelin throw event drew special attention as Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem delivered a standout performance. He threw 81.81 meters to win the gold medal, followed by Yasir Sultan with silver and Abrar with bronze.
In the women’s pole vault, American athlete Noreen Hussain won gold for Pakistan Army with a jump of 2.90 meters.
