Two people, including a young child and a woman, lost their lives in separate traffic accidents in different areas of Karachi on Wednesday.
According to police, a six-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a Mazda truck near Chhapra Hotel in Mehran Town Sector B-6, within the jurisdiction of Korangi Industrial Area police station. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.
The deceased child was identified as Zeeshan, son of Jinsar Ahmed Solangi. Police said the truck driver, identified as Javed, fled the scene following the incident. The child was reportedly a neighbor of the driver and came under the vehicle as it moved out of the street.
Police have taken the truck into custody and detained the driver’s brother, while efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing driver. The deceased child was the third among five siblings, and his father works at a factory.
In a separate incident, a 45-year-old woman was killed in a traffic accident near Munawar Chowrangi in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The victim, identified as Naziran Bibi, wife of Muhammad Hussain, was reportedly hit by an unidentified vehicle. Her body was also moved to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal procedures.
