Under the healthcare digitalization program, federal primary health centers are being equipped with modern facilities. The Federal Health Minister inaugurated Karachi’s third digitalized federal dispensary in the FC area. The dispensary has been established in collaboration with Sehat Kahani and the Federal Ministry of Health, making it the sixth Sehat Kahani dispensary in Pakistan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sehat Kahani CEO Sarah Syed Khurram said that Sehat Kahani is a telemedicine organization that has been upgraded with the support of the Federal Health Minister. She said that dispensaries in Karachi Airport and Jacob Lines have already been modernized, where patients are receiving free medicines along with medical consultations.
Addressing the event, Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal said that it is a proud moment that an old dispensary under the Federal Ministry of Health has been upgraded with modern facilities. He added that ten such dispensaries are being prepared across Pakistan, six in Islamabad and four in Karachi.
He further stated that the National Institute of Health issued an alert regarding the Nipah virus four days ago and urged the public to take precautionary measures, but thankfully Pakistan remains safe from the virus so far.
The Federal Health Minister said that major accidents, transplants and complex surgeries take place in large hospitals, but 70 to 80 percent of healthcare needs can be met through primary and secondary health centers.
He added that to prevent future tragedies, it is essential to take practical steps based on findings from past incidents instead of waiting for another disaster to occur.
