The Finance Department has released funds to major public hospitals in the city for the provision of free medicines so that better medical facilities can be provided to patients.
According to the released details, Mayo Hospital has been provided 150 million rupees for free medicines. Similarly, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has been allocated 14 million rupees, while 54 million rupees have been released for Jinnah Hospital.
Moreover, Punjab Institute of Cardiology PIC has been provided 450 million rupees for free medicines.
According to officials, the aim of this step is to ensure the availability of free medicines for patients visiting public hospitals and to further improve healthcare facilities.
