Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf have been fined for breaching the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Code of Conduct during the ongoing Champions One-Day Cup. The disciplinary action stems from an on-field altercation that disrupted play and drew the attention of match officials.

The incident occurred during a league match where tempers flared between the two veteran cricketers. Match referee Ali Naqvi handed down the penalties after reviewing the footage and consulting with the on-field umpires. Both players were found guilty of violating Article 2.1, which covers “conduct that brings the game into disrepute.”

Amir and Faheem have been docked 10% of their match fees. The PCB confirmed the sanctions in a brief statement, noting that the players accepted the charges and the proposed penalties without contest.

The Champions One-Day Cup is intended to serve as a showcase for domestic talent and a high-stakes environment for national selection. Officials are keen to maintain a professional atmosphere as the tournament reaches its business end. Public outbursts, particularly between established players, are viewed as a negative influence on the younger squad members participating in the tournament.

This isn’t the first time discipline has been a talking point in domestic cricket. The PCB has tightened its stance on player behavior in recent months, aiming to enforce stricter adherence to professional standards both on and off the pitch.

Neither player has issued a personal statement regarding the incident. For now, both are expected to remain available for their respective teams as the competition continues. The fine serves as a sharp reminder that even for seasoned professionals, the threshold for acceptable conduct remains firm.
