Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation with China in seed technology and agricultural research, underscoring the importance of food security and modern farming during his visit to Beijing.

During a high-level meeting with senior Chinese leadership, President Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s need to enhance crop yields and climate resilience through advanced technologies. He emphasized that collaboration in hybrid seed development, biotechnology, and research exchanges could play a transformative role in strengthening Pakistan’s agricultural sector.

Chinese officials welcomed the proposal, noting that agricultural innovation remains a key pillar of bilateral cooperation under the broader China–Pakistan partnership. Both sides discussed opportunities for joint research programs, knowledge transfer, and capacity building for farmers and scientists.

President Zardari also stressed the importance of leveraging China’s expertise in modern irrigation systems, precision farming, and agri-tech solutions to address challenges such as water scarcity and changing climate patterns in Pakistan.

The meeting reflects growing momentum in agricultural collaboration between the two countries, complementing ongoing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Analysts say such cooperation could help Pakistan modernize its farming practices while ensuring sustainable food production.

Officials indicated that further discussions and agreements are expected as both countries work toward long-term strategic cooperation in agriculture and food security.
