RAWALPINDI — PTI founding chairman Imran Khan met his wife, Bushra Bibi, inside Adiala Jail on Wednesday, according to prison officials familiar with the visit.
The meeting took place within the jail premises as Khan remains incarcerated while facing a series of legal challenges. Security protocols were tightened around the facility during the visit, a standard procedure whenever high-profile political figures are involved.
The meeting comes at a critical time for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The party is currently navigating a complex legal landscape, with Khan’s legal team pushing for bail in multiple cases while simultaneously organizing nationwide protests to demand his release.
Bushra Bibi, who was released on bail in the Toshakhana-II case last month, has been vocal about the conditions of her husband’s imprisonment. Her legal representatives have frequently raised concerns regarding the lack of medical facilities and the restricted access Khan faces in his cell.
For the PTI leadership, these visits serve as a vital link between the incarcerated former prime minister and the party’s decision-making body. Despite being behind bars for over a year, Khan continues to dictate party strategy, relaying messages through his legal team and family members during these brief, supervised interactions.
The government maintains that Khan’s detention is purely a matter for the courts and denies any political interference in the judicial process. However, the opposition party views the ongoing legal battles as an attempt to sideline its leader and dismantle the party structure.
As the legal proceedings grind on, the focus remains on whether the judiciary will grant relief to the former premier. For now, the meetings in Adiala Jail remain one of the few avenues for Khan to keep a pulse on the political climate outside the prison walls.
