Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar began a three-day official visit to China on May 19, following an invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The visit comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India after recent airstrikes and military standoff linked to the Pahalgam attack in Occupied Kashmir.
During his stay, Dar will hold detailed discussions with Chinese leadership on the regional security situation in South Asia, Pakistan-China bilateral relations, and broader global developments. Afghanistan’s interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is also expected to participate in the talks in Beijing.
- Dar emphasized the strategic importance of the Pakistan-China partnership, highlighting recent communication with Wang Yi and China’s consistent support, especially during crises. The Foreign Office called the visit part of ongoing high-level engagements to strengthen the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between the two nations.
