Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has strongly criticised the government over the latest increase in petroleum prices, calling the decision anti-people.
In a statement, Hafiz Naeem said the government had once again placed the burden of rising fuel costs on ordinary citizens. He said repeated increases in petrol and diesel prices would further raise transport fares, food prices, and the overall cost of living.
The JI chief demanded that the government immediately withdraw the hike and reduce taxes and levies on petroleum products. He said people were already struggling with inflation, expensive electricity, and rising household expenses.
Hafiz Naeem warned that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue raising its voice against policies that increase financial pressure on the public.
