‘ Flydubai has suspended all flight operations to Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar until the end of October. The decision, communicated to travel agents and passengers late Tuesday, leaves thousands of travelers scrambling to rebook flights during an already peak travel season.

The airline cited “operational issues” as the primary driver behind the cancellations. While the carrier offered few specifics, the move creates a significant vacuum in air travel capacity between the UAE and Northern Pakistan.

Passengers holding confirmed tickets for the affected routes are being offered the choice of a full refund or a rebooking on later dates though with many flights already near capacity, finding an alternative seat on short notice is proving difficult for many. This suspension hits at a sensitive time. October often sees a surge in travel as seasonal weather shifts and business activity picks up across the region.

With Flydubai pulling out of these three major hubs, ticket prices on remaining carriers including Emirates, Airblue, and PIA have already begun to climb as demand outstrips the reduced supply.

Aviation analysts suggest that when airlines use the broad term “operational issues,” it often masks deeper logistical hurdles, such as maintenance delays, crew shortages, or aircraft rotations.

Flydubai has yet to clarify if the suspension will extend beyond October 31. For the Pakistani diaspora and business travelers relying on these specific routes, the news is a logistical nightmare.

“I was supposed to fly to Islamabad next week for a family wedding,” said one traveler who received the cancellation notice yesterday. “Now I’m looking at flights that cost double what I paid, if I can even find a seat.

” Flydubai has advised affected customers to check their booking status via the airline’s website or contact their travel agents immediately. For now, the carrier remains tight-lipped on when—or if—full service will resume as scheduled in November.
