Islamabad:In a significant political development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan has accepted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent offer for political dialogue. According to informed sources, Khan has directed PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan to initiate talks with the government.
The meeting took place on Monday at Adiala Jail, where Khan emphasized that for any dialogue to succeed, it must be kept away from the spotlight of cameras and media hype to ensure a serious and productive outcome.
PTI insiders confirmed that the party now intends to formally engage in the negotiation process. Learning from past failures, PTI plans to adopt a more cautious and discreet diplomatic approach this time.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, speaking to The News, confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message had been conveyed to Imran Khan. However, he declined to disclose any specific details regarding the planned discussions.
This political move comes shortly after Shehbaz Sharif’s recent address in the National Assembly, where he extended an invitation to all political forces for national-level dialogue.
Sources also revealed that Imran Khan is in favor of having the support of the military establishment during the talks and is open to meeting with its representatives to facilitate the process.
These developments follow a recent wave of Indian provocations, amid which there has been a growing public demand for political unity and national solidarity in Pakistan.
