JACOBABAD — A deeply disturbing video has gone viral across social media platforms, showing a local youth being forced to hold the Holy Quran while begging for forgiveness from an influential landlord. The severe public humiliation was reportedly triggered solely by a comment the youth had left on a social media post.
According to police sources, the harrowing incident took place in Nizam Uddin Mastoi village, situated within the Mubarak Pur Union Council (UC) of Jacobabad district. The video footage clearly captures the youth visibly distressed, clutching the Holy Quran, and pleading for pardon from the landlord.
Compounding the gravity of the situation, the youth’s mother is also seen in the footage desperately begging for mercy, going so far as to remove her dupatta in a state of extreme emotional distress. The influential landlord and his associates allegedly leveraged their local power to intimidate and coerce the family over the minor digital interaction.
The widespread circulation of the video has sparked massive public outrage across civil society and digital circles, with citizens demanding a transparent, high-level investigation and strict legal accountability for the perpetrators involved.
Taking immediate notice of the incident, Jacobabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Faizan Ali has ordered a formal inquiry into the matter, appointing the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to lead the probe. The SSP reassured the public that stringent legal actions will be initiated against the responsible individuals as soon as the official inquiry report is finalized.
