RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi district has achieved a significant milestone in polio surveillance after all environmental samples collected from key locations tested negative for poliovirus. Health authorities also confirmed that the district successfully passed all independent monitoring checks conducted following the latest anti-polio campaign.
According to the District Health Authority (DHA), environmental surveillance samples from Safdarabad, Dhoke Dalal, Taxila, and Sarai Kala showed no presence of poliovirus. Officials said the vaccination campaign met its targets and demonstrated effective virus containment.
The campaign was further evaluated through Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS), with Rawalpindi passing all 12 monitoring tests. Health officials noted that this marks the fourth consecutive anti-polio drive in the district to achieve a 100 percent LQAS pass rate, reflecting strong vaccination coverage and surveillance performance.
Authorities stated that continued vigilance, robust surveillance, and effective immunization campaigns remain essential to keeping the district free from poliovirus transmission.
