Progress has been made in Sindh’s efforts to eliminate the polio virus, with environmental sample results showing significant improvement.
According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Sindh has achieved progress in its campaign against the polio virus, with 28 out of 29 environmental samples testing negative.
Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal said that the highest number of negative environmental samples since August 2023 has been recorded.
He stated that in Karachi Division, 11 out of 12 environmental samples tested negative for the first time, while in Sindh’s other divisions, all 17 environmental samples were reported negative for the first time.
According to Mustafa Kamal, stopping the spread of the polio virus in Qambar and Kashmore is a welcome development, while the second consecutive month of negative environmental samples in Badin and Mirpurkhas is an important achievement.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal also announced that a special anti polio campaign will be conducted in Karachi during July 2026.
