Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced a new policy for exam paper checking, allowing School Teacher Interns (STIs), temporary teachers, and other qualified university graduates to participate in paper evaluation and examination invigilation after receiving proper training. The initiative aims to improve transparency and expand the pool of trained staff available for examinations across the province.
According to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, the revised policy will come into effect from the next examination session. Under the new framework, eligible interns and temporary teachers will undergo training before being assigned responsibilities related to paper checking and invigilation.
The decision follows the provincial government’s earlier move to discontinue the involvement of private teachers in examination-related duties. Officials believe the new system will help ensure greater accountability, improve the quality of paper assessment, and make the examination process more efficient.
Education authorities said the policy is part of broader reforms aimed at modernising Punjab’s examination system and ensuring fair, transparent, and timely evaluation of answer scripts. The government expects the initiative to strengthen public confidence in the examination process while providing trained educators with valuable professional experience.
