Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to undertake a comprehensive overhaul of Pakistan’s agriculture sector to boost productivity, enhance food security, and strengthen the national economy.
Chairing a high-level meeting, the prime minister emphasized the need for modern farming techniques, increased mechanization, improved irrigation systems, and the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies. He said reforms should focus on increasing crop yields while reducing production costs for farmers.
PM Shehbaz also called for measures to improve access to quality seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural financing, stressing that the farming community should receive every possible support to maximize production and exports.
The prime minister directed the relevant ministries to prepare a comprehensive reform plan aimed at transforming the agriculture sector into a modern, competitive, and sustainable industry capable of driving long-term economic growth.
