The government has decided to accelerate the national campaign against Hepatitis C, with Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal expressing the commitment to make Pakistan hepatitis free through timely diagnosis and free treatment.
A meeting of the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Program was held under the chairmanship of Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal, during which ongoing measures for the elimination of the disease were reviewed.
Mustafa Kamal said that the timely identification and treatment of Hepatitis C patients can effectively prevent the spread of the disease. He stated that more than 10 million people in Pakistan are living with Hepatitis C, and making the country hepatitis free is a national commitment of the government. He added that this is not just a program but an important campaign to secure the future of the nation.
Mustafa Kamal said that PIMS and Polyclinic hospitals will play a key role in the success of the Hepatitis C program in Islamabad. He added that Hepatitis C is a treatable disease and that, along with the government, the entire nation must play its role in eliminating it.
