A patient infected with Naegleria fowleri has died in Karachi.
According to hospital officials, the 44 year old man had been diagnosed with Naegleria fowleri. Authorities said that the patient had developed a severe brain infection caused by the amoeba.
The hospital administration stated that the patient’s condition had been critical, and he had been shifted to a ventilator in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
