Egyptian President Accepts PM Shehbaz’s Invitation to Visit Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended a formal invitation to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for an official visit to Pakistan, which the Egyptian President has graciously accepted.

According to a statement issued from Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with President el-Sisi. During the call, the Prime Minister thanked the Egyptian leader for his proactive diplomatic role in the recent South Asian crisis.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to Pakistan’s brave armed forces for defending national sovereignty and regional integrity. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining the ceasefire understanding with India in the interest of regional peace.

PM Shehbaz also highlighted the importance of the Indus Waters Treaty and drew the Egyptian President’s attention to its significance.

The two leaders discussed the alarming situation in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza. PM Shehbaz emphasized the urgent need for the international community to ensure continuous and timely humanitarian assistance to Gaza and expressed hope for meaningful outcomes at the upcoming United Nations conference on the two-state solution.

In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underlined the need to enhance Pakistan-Egypt trade and investment ties.

The Egyptian President welcomed the Pakistan-India ceasefire understanding and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts toward lasting peace and stability in South Asia.

The statement concluded by confirming that President el-Sisi has accepted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation for an official visit to Pakistan
