The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has dismissed as fake a viral notification circulating on social media claiming that the Commission had introduced a four-year LLB program across Pakistan. In an official clarification, HEC confirmed that the widely shared letter is fabricated and has no connection with the Commission.
According to HEC, the fake document falsely claimed that universities would replace the existing five-year LLB degree with a four-year program. The Commission categorically denied issuing any such notification and urged students, parents, universities, and the public not to believe or share unverified information circulating online.
HEC emphasized that no changes have been made to the approved duration or structure of the LLB degree program, and any future amendments to academic policies would only be communicated through official HEC channels. The Commission reminded educational institutions to verify all policy-related announcements directly from its official website and verified social media platforms before acting upon them.
The clarification comes after the fake notification created confusion among law students and prospective applicants regarding admissions and degree requirements. HEC warned that the spread of forged documents on social media can mislead students and cause unnecessary uncertainty about higher education policies.
The Commission further advised the public to rely only on official announcements and to report suspicious or misleading educational notifications. HEC reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency and ensuring that students receive accurate and timely information regarding higher education policies in Pakistan.
