Karachi Metropolitan University (KMU) organized a ceremony under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme to distribute laptops among talented and deserving students, where 103 students were awarded laptops.

The event was graced by Governor Sindh Nihal Hashmi as the chief guest, who personally distributed laptops among students. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem.

In his welcome address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi said that the event was not merely a distribution ceremony but a recognition of academic excellence, equal opportunities, and intellectual capability. He said the initiative reflects a collective national commitment to empowering youth and preparing them for challenges and opportunities in the digital era.

He further stated that laptops are not just devices but gateways to knowledge, research, innovation, creativity, and global connectivity. He emphasized that digital access has become essential for academic success and professional growth in today’s technology-driven world.

A special video presentation on the Digital Youth Hub was also shown, highlighting training programs, digital opportunities, and online facilities available for students.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sindh Nihal Hashmi said the government is taking serious steps to empower youth, bridge the digital divide, and provide modern educational facilities. He congratulated the students and encouraged them to utilize these resources for academic and professional development.

He described the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme as a continuous national program aimed at equipping youth with modern technology skills. He added that the Digital Youth Hub provides opportunities for education, employment, internships, scholarships, and entrepreneurship on a single platform.

He further stressed that Pakistan’s future depends on its youth and that the government aims to connect young people with global opportunities and modern skill-based markets.

At the end of the ceremony, shields were distributed among guests and distinguished personalities. Officials reiterated that the initiative is a significant step toward promoting digital education and preparing youth to contribute effectively to the national economy.
