KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned recent attempted drone attacks originating from Iraqi territory that targeted critical petroleum facilities in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and the capital, Riyadh. In an official statement, Kuwait denounced the incursions as a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, attributing the cross-border strikes to Iran-affiliated militias operating in Iraq. Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held an urgent phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud to reaffirm Kuwait’s absolute solidarity, emphasizing that the security of both nations and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) remains inseparable.

The escalation prompted a robust defense response from Riyadh, with Saudi Ministry of Defense spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki confirming that national air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed several hostile drones over the preceding hours. Terming the attacks “reprehensible,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry asserted its sovereign right to self-defense and explicitly called on the Iraqi government to take decisive measures to prevent its territory from being utilized as a launchpad for regional aggression. The incident triggered widespread regional condemnation, with Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt issuing strong statements of support for Saudi Arabia, warning that such infrastructure attacks pose a severe threat to international law and Middle Eastern stability.
