Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya in Islamabad on Wednesday, focusing on the escalating tensions across the Middle East. The two leaders prioritized regional security concerns, highlighting the need for a coordinated response to the ongoing conflict.

The meeting comes as diplomatic channels in the Gulf region face mounting pressure to prevent a wider conflagration. Pakistan, currently balancing its ties with regional powers, views Kuwait as a key partner in navigating the current geopolitical volatility.

“The situation remains fragile,” a diplomatic source familiar with the talks said. Both ministers emphasized that the current trajectory of violence risks destabilizing trade routes and energy supplies, areas where both nations maintain vested interests.

Dar underscored Pakistan’s support for a peaceful resolution, pointing to the need for international intervention to de-escalate hostilities. For his part, Al-Yahya stressed the importance of unity among Muslim-majority nations to address the humanitarian crisis emerging from the conflict zones.

Beyond the regional security theater, the discussions touched on bilateral cooperation. Pakistan is keen to secure fresh investment from Kuwaiti state funds, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The two sides agreed to accelerate the Joint Ministerial Commission meetings to turn these policy intentions into concrete projects.

Despite the focus on economic ties, the shadow of the regional conflict dominated the agenda. The meeting served as a signal that Islamabad is actively aligning its diplomatic stance with Gulf partners to remain relevant in the evolving Middle Eastern security architecture.

Both ministers stopped short of announcing a new regional initiative, opting instead to maintain a unified diplomatic front as they await further developments in the coming weeks.
