Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat held an important meeting to review the long-standing proposal to increase the upper age limit for the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination.

During the meeting, committee members discussed concerns raised by aspiring candidates who have repeatedly demanded relaxation in the age limit, arguing that many graduates are unable to apply due to delays in completing higher education, professional commitments, and changing recruitment trends.

Officials from the relevant departments briefed the committee on the existing eligibility criteria and the implications of revising the age limit. Members also examined previous recommendations and public petitions submitted on the matter.

The committee emphasized the need to ensure equal opportunities for talented candidates while maintaining the competitiveness and transparency of the CSS examination process. Lawmakers agreed that the proposal requires careful evaluation before any final decision is made.

No final decision was announced during the meeting. The committee is expected to continue consultations with the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) and other stakeholders before making formal recommendations to the government.

The CSS age limit issue has remained a major concern among thousands of civil service aspirants, many of whom have urged the government to introduce age relaxation in line with changing educational and employment realities.
