A teenage girl was allegedly raped inside the Kahna police station in Lahore, a breach of security and protocol that has triggered the suspension of the facility’s entire staff.

Senior police officials confirmed the action late Tuesday night, marking a rare, blanket disciplinary move against an entire precinct. The victim claims she had been brought to the station for questioning in a separate matter when the assault occurred.

The incident, coming on the heels of mounting public frustration over police conduct, has sparked immediate protests. Local residents gathered outside the station Wednesday morning, demanding a transparent investigation rather than internal administrative shuffling.

“We don’t want suspensions; we want convictions,” said one demonstrator, echoing a sentiment shared by legal advocates.

The Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore stated that a high-level inquiry committee has been formed to determine how a civilian could be targeted within the confines of a station meant for public protection. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the premises, and the victim has been moved to a secure location for medical examination.

Critics argue that suspending staff is a standard, often hollow, response to intense media pressure. Human rights lawyers point out that without independent oversight, these cases frequently stall once the initial public outcry fades.

The station’s operations have been handed over to a new team, but the trust deficit between the Lahore police and the public continues to widen. As the investigation begins, the question remains whether this case will reach a courtroom or be buried under the weight of departmental bureaucracy.
