MANCHESTER: Lancashire have brought in Pakistan left-arm spinner Noman Ali for the remainder of the 2026 County Championship season, with the experienced bowler set to feature in the club’s final six first-class matches.
The 39-year-old is expected to strengthen Lancashire’s spin department during the closing stages of the campaign and could make his debut against Northamptonshire at Emirates Old Trafford on August 20.
Noman arrives with an impressive Test record, having taken more than 100 wickets for Pakistan since making his international debut in 2021. His performances in recent years have established him as one of the country’s most reliable red-ball bowlers.
Among his notable achievements are career-best Test figures of 8-46 against England and becoming the first Pakistan spinner to claim a Test hat-trick, achieved during the 2025 series against the West Indies.
His strong performances also saw him rise to second place in the ICC Men’s Test bowling rankings in October last year after recording a 10-wicket match haul against South Africa in Lahore.
Noman said he was delighted to get the opportunity to experience county cricket in England for the first time and expressed his excitement about representing Lancashire.
The Pakistan international also highlighted the club’s long association with Pakistani cricket, particularly the legacy of legendary all-rounder Wasim Akram, who enjoyed a successful spell with Lancashire.
Noman said he was looking forward to joining his new teammates and contributing both on and off the field as Lancashire enter the decisive stage of their County Championship campaign
