Four people have died from the coronavirus in Karachi, according to recent reports. All the deceased were elderly and suffered from pre-existing medical conditions, including weakened immune systems.
The deaths were reported at Aga Khan University Hospital, where the number of COVID-19 patients is steadily increasing. Professor Dr. Syed Faisal Mahmood, an infectious disease specialist at the hospital, described the daily admission of COVID patients as an alarming trend.
Health experts have termed the rise in cases during the summer as “unusual,” noting that the virus typically shows reduced activity in warmer weather.
Experts have issued the following precautionary guidelines for the public:
1. Wear masks in crowded places.
2. Maintain hand hygiene and use hand sanitizer regularly.
3. Complete your vaccination and booster doses, especially if you are elderly or have a weakened immune system.
4. If you or someone around you shows symptoms like cold, flu, or fever, get tested immediately and isolate yourself.
These recent deaths serve as a stark reminder that the threat of coronavirus is not over, and continued vigilance and adherence to safety measures remain essential.
