Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission has reportedly taken action against an assistant professor after discovering alleged fake academic credentials, ending a career spanning around three decades.
According to reports, the case involved an assistant professor at a government college in Faisalabad whose academic credentials were found to be fraudulent following an inquiry. The investigation allegedly found that another person had appeared on his behalf in Intermediate and BA examinations. His academic results and certificates were subsequently cancelled, leading to action against his government employment.
The professor had reportedly joined the Education Department in 1996 and continued his career for nearly 30 years, eventually reaching the post of assistant professor. Authorities have now ordered his dismissal, while reports also indicate that recovery of salaries and other benefits received during the period of service may be pursued.
The case has raised fresh concerns about the verification of academic qualifications and how alleged fraudulent credentials remained undetected for decades before action was taken.
