Lionel Messi has once again made history—this time in the United States. In Inter Miami’s 4–2 win over Montréal, the Argentine legend scored two goals and provided an assist, reaching a total of 50 goal contributions in the MLS regular season. He is now the first player in Inter Miami’s history to achieve this milestone.
Since joining Inter Miami in July 2023, Messi has scored 29 goals and delivered 21 assists. Despite missing part of this season due to injury, he’s already contributed 11 goals or assists this year alone.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner also became the fastest player to reach 40 goal contributions in MLS history, showing that his age is no barrier to brilliance. With 863 career goals, 47 of them for Inter Miami, Messi continues to dominate world football.
However, one goal remains: the MLS Cup. Inter Miami were favorites last season but were knocked out early. Under coach Javier Mascherano, the team still has chances this year, including at the FIFA Club World Cup. The question now is—can Messi lead them to glory?
