Islamabad: Eid ul Adha, the festival of sacrifice, is being celebrated with profound religious devotion and enthusiasm across Pakistan and around the world today. The day began with large congregational Eid prayers held in mosques, open grounds, and Eidgahs in cities, towns, and villages throughout the country.

From Punjab to Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, worshippers gathered in thousands to offer Eid prayers and listen to sermons emphasizing sacrifice, compassion, unity, and gratitude the core values of this sacred occasion. Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s progress and for the liberation of oppressed Muslim communities, including those in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.

In Islamabad, the central Eid congregation took place at the iconic Faisal Mosque, where government officials, foreign diplomats, and the general public offered prayers together, reflecting a spirit of national unity and devotion.

In their Eid messages, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm greetings to the nation. They highlighted that Eid ul Adha is a reminder of Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) unwavering faith and devotion to Allah, and called on citizens to embrace the values of sacrifice, brotherhood, gratitude, and social responsibility.

President Zardari emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity, urging the nation to support one another and work collectively towards a prosperous and strong Pakistan.

Across major cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Islamabad, the festive spirit is visible in decorated streets and bustling neighborhoods filled with the sounds of “Eid Mubarak.” Families are visiting one another, exchanging gifts, and sharing festive meals. The ritual of Qurbani (sacrifice) is being carried out as per the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), with meat being distributed to the poor and needy to spread the blessings of Eid.

Eid ul Adha stands as a powerful symbol of devotion to Allah’s will, while also reinforcing values of compassion, generosity, and unity  a timeless message that resonates with Muslims around the world on this blessed day.
