FAPUASA: The federation of all Pakistan universities academic staff associations, has declared a nation wide protest and black day movement beginning this month because of gross ignorance of the government in terms of Federal Budget 202526 in higher education.

FAPUASA is pressuring Government to increase recurring grant to universities to Rs 200 billion, 25 percent of tax amount on educators as rebate and grant complete institutional autonomy. The association threatened that failure to honor these demands, they will ascertained to boycott and thus threat to paralyze the academic activities in the country.

Officials of the Punjab chapter were outraged over the failure to extend the 30 percent Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) to the staff of the universities to the other Federal workpeople. According to them, the action increases gaps between inequality further.

Since 2018, the number of public sector universities increased to 156 at a time when the financing has not increased. Provincial governments have failed to give required finances to the systems except Sindh, making most of these institutions incapable of paying the basic operational expenses such as salary and pension of the workers.
