Karachi is expected to experience hot and humid weather over the next two days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)

The PMD predicts partly cloudy skies and high humidity, which will make conditions uncomfortable. Sea breezes are currently restricted, intensifying the heat. However, a change in weather is expected from Friday (June 27), with chances of dust storms, thunderstorms, and rain.

In Punjab, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported 37mm of rainfall at Lahore airport in the past 24 hours, while other parts of the city recorded only 4mm.

Other rainfall readings across Punjab included:

  • Noorpur Thal: 29mm
  • Gujranwala: 28mm
  • Rawalpindi: 14mm
  • Sialkot: 11mm
  • Mianwali: 10mm
  • Hafizabad: 9mm
  • Sargodha: 5mm
  • Jhang: 4mm
  • Joharabad, Gujrat, Kasur: 1mm each
Light showers were also reported in Faisalabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sheikhupura, and Narowal.

More rain is predicted in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, and Sahiwal.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) informed the Senate Climate Change Committee that above-normal rainfall is expected this monsoon season (June 30–September 15). The NDMA estimates an annual loss of $4 billion due to climate change impacts.

Rainfall projections include:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 15–30% above normal
  • Punjab: 50–60% above normal
  • Balochistan: 70–80% above normal

Authorities advise preparations for potentially heavy monsoon impacts.
