An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted several areas of Balochistan, including Barkhan and Musakhel, during the late hours of Saturday night into Sunday. According to official sources, the tremors caused significant panic among residents, forcing many to rush out of their homes in fear.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located near Dera Ghazi Khan, a region prone to seismic activity due to its geological positioning. The quake resulted in the complete collapse of two houses, while five others sustained partial damage.
Local authorities confirmed that at least three people were injured in the incident. Rescue and relief teams have been dispatched to the affected areas to provide assistance and assess the extent of the damage.
Seismologists have urged residents to remain cautious, warning of potential aftershocks in the coming hours. Meanwhile, provincial disaster management officials are closely monitoring the situation and have assured that relief efforts are underway.
