The School Education Department of Punjab has said that all government school heads without having cleared a formal test will be removed. The posts will now be recruited by a province wide merit based written test which will be conducted in July.
In order to facilitate smooth carrying out of the test, six examination centres will be set in each district. People who pass the written examination and interviews only will be eligible to be appointed as the school heads.
The respective district education authorities have been asked to furnish the set up details of these centres to the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Punjab by July 4, 2025. The centres should meet some of the most important amenities like power supply, internet connection, CCTV camera, and sitting arrangements of at least 40 candidates.
This will enhance the aspect of transparency in that only qualified teachers will head public schools replacing the temporary and untested appointments as was the case in the previous years.
