MUMBAI / LOS ANGELES — Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has officially confirmed his impending wedding to long-time partner Gauri Spratt, revealing that the couple will exchange vows in an intimate, low-key ceremony early next month.
Speaking directly to Variety India, the 61-year-old actor disclosed that the wedding is scheduled for July 5, 2026. Pivoting away from the traditional, high-profile spectacles typical of Bollywood elite, the couple has opted for a straightforward, legal registered marriage to be conducted within the privacy of their residence, with attendance strictly limited to immediate family units and their closest inner circle.
Reflecting on this chapter of his life, Khan described himself as immensely happy, calling Spratt a true “blessing.” However, the veteran actor voiced sharp criticism regarding the pervasive public and media obsession with the private affairs of public figures. Expressing frustration over how the confidential details of his wedding initial leaked to the press, he noted that public fascination should remain fixed on an artist’s professional output rather than their domestic milestones, lamenting that “nothing is off-bounds” in the modern media landscape.
The upcoming nuptials culminate a relationship dynamic that spans more than two decades. Khan and Spratt initially crossed paths approximately 25 years ago before losing contact. After reconnecting years later, their re-established friendship gradually transitioned into a romantic partnership. Khan formally consolidated the relationship in the public eye during his milestone 60th birthday celebrations in March 2025, introducing Spratt to the media corps for the first time.
The July ceremony will mark Aamir Khan’s third marriage. He was previously married to Reena Dutta from 1986 until their divorce in 2002; the former couple share two adult children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. The Dangal star subsequently married acclaimed filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005, later announcing an amicable separation in 2021. Despite the dissolution of their marriage, Khan and Rao maintain an active, collaborative co-parenting dynamic for their son, Azad Rao Khan.
