Arshad Nadeem's coach banned for life over unauthorised elections

The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has imposed a lifetime ban on Olympian Arshad Nadeem’s coach, Salman Iqbal Butt, and a ten-year ban on Habib Shah.

The decision followed the organisation of unauthorised elections for the Punjab Athletics Association, which the AFP has declared null and void.

According to the AFP, the elections did not conform to the federation’s constitution. An inquiry committee had been formed to review the matter, but both Salman Iqbal Butt and Habib Shah failed to appear before the committee.

The committee recommended disciplinary action for constitutional violations and unlawful activities. Salman Iqbal Butt has been barred from all athletics-related activities. The federation has informed all affiliated units and institutions of the bans.
